Jio Platforms’ Rs 30,213 crore initial public offering (IPO) became the fastest among mega-sized public issues to achieve full subscription, receiving bids for 1.15 times the shares offered on the first day of bidding on October 21, 2026, according to exchange data reported by Moneycontrol.
The issue received bids for 22.66 crore shares against approximately 19.75 crore shares offered across the various investor categories. The overall subscription figure indicates that total demand exceeded the shares available in the IPO on the opening day, although participation varied significantly across investor segments.
Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) emerged as the strongest contributors to demand, subscribing to their reserved portion 3.68 times. The category received bids for approximately 18.03 crore shares against 4.90 crore shares offered, indicating substantial institutional interest in the offering.
In contrast, the Non Institutional Investors (NIIs) category was subscribed 0.29 times, with bids for approximately 1.05 crore shares against 3.64 crore shares offered. Retail Individual Investors subscribed to 0.26 times their reserved portion, placing bids for approximately 2.20 crore shares against 8.50 crore shares available.
The shareholder reservation category was subscribed 0.48 times, receiving bids for approximately 1.08 crore shares against 2.23 crore shares offered.
The strong institutional demand helped the IPO cross the full subscription threshold on its opening day, despite relatively subdued participation from retail and non institutional investors. The subsequent subscription trend across investor categories will provide further insight into demand for the offering as the bidding process progresses.
