Bajaj Finance reported a 29 percent year on year increase in net profit to Rs 6266 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared with Rs 4875 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. The growth was supported by an expansion in its loan book, rising interest income and sustained demand across its consumer and business lending segments.
Net interest income increased 24 percent year on year to Rs 13335 crore. Net total income rose 23 percent to Rs 15974 crore from Rs 12982 crore in Q2 FY26, reflecting continued growth in the company's lending operations.
The company's assets under management increased 26 percent to Rs 5,84,624 crore as of September 30, 2026, compared with Rs 4,62,261 crore a year earlier. AUM expanded by Rs 37,680 crore during the September quarter, highlighting sustained credit demand across its lending portfolio.
Bajaj Finance booked 13.45 million new loans during Q2 FY27, an increase of 11 percent from 12.17 million in the corresponding quarter last year. Its customer franchise expanded 16 percent year on year to 128.85 million as of September 30, 2026, compared with 110.64 million a year earlier. The company added 4.42 million customers during the quarter.
Demand for consumer financing, credit from small businesses, gold loans and housing finance continued to support lending activity across the non banking financial services sector.
Loan losses and provisions stood at Rs 2166 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with Rs 2080 crore in Q2 FY26. The latest quarter included additional management and macroeconomic provisions of Rs 337 crore. Excluding these provisions, loan losses and provisions amounted to Rs 1829 crore, representing a 12 percent decline year on year.
Asset quality indicators also improved. Gross non performing assets declined to 1.06 percent as of September 30, 2026, from 1.24 percent a year earlier. Net non performing assets fell to 0.42 percent from 0.60 percent over the same period.
The improvement in reported asset quality and the decline in adjusted loan losses indicate better credit performance compared with the year ago period. However, the additional provisions highlight the company's continued prudence in accounting for potential credit risks and uncertain macroeconomic conditions.
