Sigma Advanced Systems Soars After Defence Expansion Bets - Is This India’s Next Aerospace Powerhouse ?

Sigma Advanced Systems Ltd. has emerged as a fast-rising player in the aerospace and defence sector following aggressive global expansion, strategic acquisitions, and advanced drone defence capabilities. Investors are closely tracking the company after its transformation from a niche defence electronics supplier into an integrated global A&D platform with strong international partnerships.
Founded in 1994 in Hyderabad by electronics engineers Sanjay Pukalay and Cheemarla Damodar Reddy, Sigma Advanced Systems initially focused on supplying sub-systems to DRDO labs, defence PSUs like BEL, BDL, and HAL, as well as the Indian Armed Forces. Over the decades, the company evolved from missile guidance and naval electronics programs into a comprehensive aerospace and defence solutions provider with capabilities across manufacturing, electronics, drone systems, and advanced warfare technologies.
A major turning point came with Sigma’s merger into the listed entity Megasoft Ltd. Under the approved share swap arrangement, the combined entity was officially renamed Sigma Advanced Systems Ltd in January 2026, with the stock ticker transitioning to SIGMAADV. The merger has significantly improved the company’s market visibility and positioned it as a publicly traded defence and aerospace platform at a time when investor interest in the sector remains elevated.
Sigma further expanded its global footprint through the acquisition of UK-based Nasmyth Group in October 2025. Nasmyth is a tier-1 precision engineering partner serving major aerospace and defence OEMs globally. The acquisition provides Sigma access to advanced aerospace manufacturing capabilities, established European relationships, and high-value defence supply chains. The company also expanded intercompany funding support to accelerate Nasmyth’s future growth and integration plans.
One of Sigma’s biggest growth drivers is its expanding defence technology portfolio. The company made a strategic investment in the Indrajaal Autonomous Drone Defence Dome platform and simultaneously developed its own suite of military technologies, including long-range loitering munitions, armed UAVs, surveillance drones, anti-drone systems, jammers, spoofers, and hard-kill interceptors. Several of these systems have already completed field evaluations with the Indian Armed Forces, significantly strengthening Sigma’s credibility in next-generation warfare systems.
Sigma’s acquisition of a controlling stake in AS Strategic Pvt Ltd has further enhanced its access to European defence markets. Through partnerships with leading European defence firms such as Abra Works, EM&E, and Arquimea, the company has established a strong JV-led export model. These alliances allow Sigma to act as a cost-efficient Indian manufacturing partner for European defence contracts, creating long-term opportunities in international aerospace and military supply chains.
Sigma Advanced Systems is increasingly being viewed as a diversified defence technology and aerospace platform rather than a traditional component supplier. Its transformation through acquisitions, international partnerships, drone warfare technologies, and defence exports has positioned the company at the center of India’s rapidly growing defence manufacturing ecosystem. As global defence spending rises and India pushes for indigenous military capabilities, Sigma’s aggressive expansion strategy is attracting strong market attention.
