Tata Power has commissioned the 400 kV Koteshwar–Rishikesh transmission line, a key infrastructure project aimed at facilitating the evacuation of nearly 1,000 MW of hydropower from the Tehri-Koteshwar hydroelectric complex in Uttarakhand. The new transmission corridor is expected to significantly boost grid stability and regional energy security across northern India.

The newly commissioned line will enable the seamless flow of clean electricity to multiple northern states and Union Territories, including Haryana and Punjab. By improving inter-state transmission capacity, the project strengthens the reliability of power supply while also supporting India’s renewable energy transition.

The Tehri-Koteshwar complex is one of India's major hydropower assets, and the new transmission infrastructure ensures optimal utilisation of its generation capacity. The corridor also enhances the resilience of the northern grid by providing an additional high-capacity power evacuation route.

With this commissioning, Tata Power continues to expand its transmission footprint while aligning with national objectives of strengthening power infrastructure and accelerating the transition towards clean and sustainable energy.
