Market outlook for 30 October 2026
Sensex Jumps 905 Points, Nifty Reclaims 22,900 as Earnings Boost Sentiment; Crude Near $114 Remains a Risk

Market Wrap
Indian equity markets staged a strong recovery on Thursday, with the Nifty 50 rising 237.90 points, or 1.05%, to close at 22,936.75, while the Sensex advanced 905.01 points, or 1.24%, to 74,151.04. After a muted opening, buying interest strengthened through the session, supported by quarterly earnings, broad-based participation and slightly softer crude oil prices. The rebound offered relief after recent weakness, although investors remain cautious about the sustainability of the recovery.
Sectorally, realty stocks led the advance, gaining over 2.5% and moving toward their 20-day Exponential Moving Average. Banking, FMCG, IT and power stocks also contributed to the rally, reflecting renewed buying interest across multiple segments. Among individual stocks, Adani Ports surged following strong quarterly earnings and an improved operating-profit outlook, highlighting the growing importance of company-specific performance in driving market movements during the earnings season.
Globally, the US Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged at 3.75%–4.00%, but its cautious assessment of persistent inflation offered limited reassurance about the near-term outlook for global liquidity. Meanwhile, Brent crude remained elevated near $114 per barrel amid Middle East supply concerns, keeping inflationary pressures, rupee stability and corporate input costs firmly in focus.
What's Ahead
Indian equities are likely to remain sensitive to the sustainability of Thursday's rebound, global market cues and ongoing Q2 FY27 earnings announcements. The 22,900 zone will be an important near-term level for the Nifty to defend. Sustained trading above this region could help extend the recovery, while renewed selling may push the index toward lower support levels. However, a single session of gains is not sufficient to confirm a lasting trend reversal.
The earnings calendar will remain a key driver of stock-specific activity, with Bharat Electronics, Sun Pharmaceutical, Indian Oil Corporation and GAIL among the companies scheduled to report results. Investors will focus on revenue growth, margins, order execution and management guidance to assess whether corporate performance can sustain the recent improvement in sentiment.

Technical Outlook
Nifty 50
The NIFTY 50 declined 50.90 points, or 0.22%, to close at 22,698.85, as selling in IT, oil and gas, and telecom stocks offset gains in healthcare, capital goods and retail shares. The index recovered from its intraday low of 22,497.70 but failed to sustain stronger upward momentum, while the RSI remained below 50, indicating continued weakness in the near-term trend. Market breadth was marginally positive, with 26 stocks advancing against 24 declining. Elevated crude oil prices, geopolitical uncertainty and caution ahead of the US Federal Reserve's policy decision continued to weigh on sentiment. Immediate support is placed at 22,464 and 22,319, while resistance stands at 22,934 and 23,079. A sustained move above 22,934 could improve recovery prospects, whereas a decisive break below 22,464 may expose the index to further downside.
BankNifty
The NIFTY BANK advanced 292.50 points, or 0.54%, to close at 54,267.40, recovering from its intraday low of 53,626.15 as buying interest emerged across several private and public sector lenders. However, market breadth remained evenly divided, with 7 constituents advancing and 7 declining, indicating a lack of broad-based participation. The RSI moved closer to 40, suggesting that bearish momentum persists despite the session's recovery. Immediate support is positioned at 53,692 and 53,336, while resistance levels are placed at 54,843 and 55,199. Sustaining above 53,692 could help the index extend its recovery toward the first resistance zone, while a breakout above 54,843 would provide a stronger indication of improving momentum.
NIFTY FINANCIAL SERVICES
The NIFTY Financial Services index gained 114.50 points, or 0.47%, to settle at 24,418.25, supported by advances across lending, insurance and financial services stocks. Cholamandalam Investment led the gainers, while SBI Life, BSE and select banking stocks also contributed to the positive close. Market breadth was constructive, with 13 constituents advancing against 7 declining, suggesting relatively stronger participation than in the broader benchmarks. Immediate support lies at 24,110 and 23,919, while resistance is placed at 24,727 and 24,918. Holding above 24,110 could sustain the positive bias and allow the index to test its first resistance, whereas a break below this support would weaken the near-term technical setup.
Sensex
The BSE SENSEX declined 352.64 points, or 0.48%, to close at 73,246.03, as losses in heavyweight IT, energy and telecom stocks outweighed gains in capital goods, retail and banking shares. Larsen & Toubro and Trent were among the notable gainers, while Reliance Industries, Infosys, Tech Mahindra and TCS dragged on the benchmark. Market breadth was weak, with 21 stocks declining against only 9 advancing, reflecting broad selling pressure despite strength in select heavyweight stocks. Immediate support is placed at 72,415 and 71,901, while resistance stands at 74,077 and 74,591. A sustained hold above 72,415 could help stabilize the index, while a recovery above 74,077 would improve the near-term outlook. A decisive break below support, however, would increase the risk of further weakness.
