Market outlook for 27 July 2026
Markets Recover From Day's Lows, But Selling Pressure Persists Amid Weak Global Sentiment

Market Wrap
Indian equity markets ended lower on 27 July after a volatile trading session, as weak global cues triggered a gap-down opening in the Nifty. However, the benchmark recovered a significant portion of its intraday losses as value buying emerged through the day, highlighting selective investor interest despite cautious sentiment. The Nifty eventually settled at 23,767, down 0.43%, indicating that selling pressure continues to persist at higher levels.
The recovery was largely supported by the Bank Nifty, where PSU banks witnessed a strong pullback following recent weakness, helping improve overall market sentiment. Meanwhile, global markets remained under pressure as crude oil prices approached the $100 per barrel mark, fueling concerns over inflation and the potential impact on global economic growth. Investors also remained focused on the ongoing corporate earnings season, resulting in heightened stock-specific activity across sectors.
What's Ahead
Market participants are expected to remain focused on individual stocks as the earnings season gathers momentum, with management commentary likely to have a greater influence on price movements than headline earnings alone. Investors will also monitor crude oil prices, foreign institutional investor (FII) flows, and any developments related to global trade or geopolitical tensions. A sustained recovery in Bank Nifty, along with stability in crude oil prices, could support a short-term relief rally. However, continued weakness in global markets or disappointing earnings could keep volatility elevated in the coming sessions.

Technical Outlook
Nifty 50
The Nifty 50 continues to exhibit a sideways to bearish bias after closing at 23,869.60, down 0.53%, with the index remaining below its 20-day, 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day EMAs, highlighting a weak short-term technical structure. The formation of a Doji candle on the daily chart reflects market indecision following a volatile session, while the RSI at 45.36 indicates fading bullish momentum. Derivatives data also points to caution, with the Put-Call Ratio (PCR) at 0.68, highest Put Open Interest at 23,800, and highest Call Open Interest at 24,000, suggesting immediate support around 23,700–23,800 and resistance at 23,950–24,000. As long as the index holds above the 23,700–23,800 zone, a relief rebound towards 24,000 remains possible. However, failure to sustain above support could trigger another round of selling. Overall, Nifty is expected to trade within the 23,500–24,000 range with a sideways to bullish outlook, although traders should wait for a decisive breakout before taking aggressive positions.
BankNifty
Bank Nifty ended the session at 56,592, down 0.94%, after failing to hold early gains and witnessing aggressive profit booking during the day. Although buyers emerged around the 56,400 support zone and helped the index recover from intraday lows, the overall price structure continues to indicate selling pressure at higher levels. The index remains in a consolidation phase, with immediate support placed at 56,000–56,100, while the 57,300–57,400 zone is likely to act as a strong resistance. A sustained move above the resistance band could improve market sentiment and open the door for further upside, whereas a breakdown below support may accelerate corrective pressure. Until a decisive breakout occurs, Bank Nifty is expected to remain range-bound with a sideways to bullish bias, and traders should closely monitor price action around these key technical levels.
Sensex
The Sensex ended 331.62 points lower at 76,059.77, extending its cautious tone amid persistent FII selling, elevated crude oil prices, weak global markets, and geopolitical uncertainty. Despite recovering from intraday lows, the benchmark failed to sustain buying momentum and continues to trade below important short-term technical levels, indicating that sentiment remains fragile. Immediate support is seen in the 75,400–75,500 zone, while 76,700–76,800 remains the first major resistance. A decisive move above resistance could improve the near-term outlook and trigger a recovery towards the 77,000 mark, whereas a breach below support may invite further downside towards 75,200–75,000. Overall, the index is expected to trade within the 75,400–76,800 range with a sideways to bullish bias, though investors should remain cautious until stronger buying momentum returns.
