Markets End Higher as NIFTY Breaks Consolidation Range; Q1 Earnings Take Centre Stage

Market Wrap

Indian equity markets concluded the week on a constructive note, with the NIFTY 50 closing at 24,362, registering a weekly gain of 0.53%. Despite spending most of the week in a narrow trading range, the index witnessed consistent buying at lower levels, allowing it to recover nearly all of its early-week losses. Sentiment strengthened significantly in the final trading session as the index broke above its seven-day consolidation range, signalling renewed buying interest and improving short-term momentum.

Sectorally, information technology stocks remained the key outperformers, extending their gains for a third consecutive week. Investors continued to accumulate quality IT companies ahead of the Q1 earnings season, supported by expectations of stable demand and improved earnings visibility. Meanwhile, global market sentiment remained cautious following a weak overnight performance on Wall Street, with most Asian and European markets also trading lower. Investors continued to evaluate recent trade-related developments, expectations around major central bank policy decisions, and the progress of the global earnings season.

What's Ahead

The market's attention will remain firmly on the ongoing Q1 earnings season, with results from several major companies expected to influence sectoral performance and overall market sentiment. Investors will closely monitor management commentary on demand trends, margin outlook, and future growth prospects for signs of sustained earnings momentum.

Apart from corporate earnings, global factors will continue to play an important role. Market participants will track central bank commentary, key US economic data releases, foreign institutional investor (FII) flows, global bond yield movements, and any fresh developments in international trade policies. If corporate earnings continue to exceed expectations and foreign inflows remain supportive, Indian equities could sustain their recovery despite lingering global uncertainties.
