Markets Rebound After Volatile Week; Q1 Earnings and Key Technical Levels to Guide Next Move

Market Wrap

Indian equity markets concluded a highly volatile week on a positive note, with bulls regaining momentum after an early tussle with bears. Strong buying during the first two trading sessions helped the Nifty recover nearly 400 points from recent lows, although the index remained below its key weekly EMA resistance around 24,379, indicating that caution still prevails despite the rebound.

Sectoral performance remained encouraging as PSU Banks extended their recovery for a second straight session, providing significant support to the banking space. The broader market continued to outperform, with the Midcap Index scaling a fresh record high, reflecting sustained investor confidence in quality mid-sized companies.

Global sentiment also improved during the week after reports suggested that diplomatic discussions between the United States and Iran may continue, easing immediate geopolitical concerns and reducing pressure on global energy markets. Investors also assessed mixed economic data from major economies while tracking central bank commentary and trade-related developments that could shape global market sentiment.

What's Ahead

The upcoming week is expected to be dominated by the Q1 FY27 earnings season, with several leading IT and BFSI companies scheduled to announce their quarterly results. Investors will closely monitor management commentary on demand trends, margin outlook, capital allocation, and business visibility for the remainder of the financial year.

Technically, the Nifty continues to trade below its important weekly EMA resistance, keeping the broader trend in a cautious zone despite the recent recovery. Immediate support is placed in the 24,120–24,050 range, while resistance is seen at 24,300–24,350, followed by 24,420. A sustained move above these resistance levels could reinforce bullish momentum, whereas weaker-than-expected earnings or adverse global developments may trigger renewed volatility.

Market participants are likely to remain focused on fundamentally strong companies while keeping a close watch on foreign institutional investor (FII) flows, global macroeconomic indicators, and geopolitical developments, all of which could influence the market's direction in the week ahead.
