Shares of Bharat Forge Ltd advanced more than 3% in Monday's trading session after its wholly owned defence subsidiary, Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd (KSSL), showcased its MArG (Mounted Artillery Gun) series at Eurosatory 2026, one of the world's largest defence and security exhibitions.
The stock was trading around 3.4% higher at ₹2,012 on the NSE following the announcement.
KSSL introduced a family of truck-mounted 155mm artillery systems aimed at delivering highly mobile, rapidly deployable, and cost-effective firepower solutions for modern armed forces. The MArG platform is offered in three variants MArG 39, MArG 45, and MArG 52 featuring different calibre configurations while maintaining a common platform architecture to simplify training, maintenance, and logistics.
Built on a high-mobility 4x4 chassis, the artillery systems are designed for "shoot-and-scoot" operations, allowing forces to fire and quickly reposition before potential counter-battery attacks. The systems are compatible with NATO-standard 155mm ammunition, including precision-guided munitions, and incorporate advanced fire-control systems suited for network-centric warfare environments.
According to the company, the lighter-weight design and reduced logistical footprint provide operational flexibility across challenging terrains, including mountainous regions, deserts, urban environments, and areas with limited infrastructure. This positions the MArG series as a potential alternative to heavier tracked and wheeled artillery platforms.
Amit Kalyani, Vice Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Bharat Forge, stated that the MArG series combines the group's decades of engineering and metallurgical expertise to deliver a globally competitive artillery platform offering both mobility and firepower. He added that the system also enables partner nations to develop indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities.
Neelesh Tungar, Chief Executive Officer of KSSL, highlighted the platform's ability to rapidly engage targets and relocate, while also being suitable for deployment in terrains where heavier artillery systems face operational limitations. He further emphasized the platform's potential for localized production and sustainment.
The next-generation 155mm/39 calibre MArG 39 variant is currently being displayed at Eurosatory 2026 and is being presented to prospective defence customers across Europe as part of KSSL's global market expansion efforts.

India's 2026 Monsoon : When the Rain Becomes a Risk
After two consecutive years of above-normal rainfall, India faces a significantly weaker 2026 southwest monsoon, with meteorological agencies forecasting rainfall at around 90% of the Long Period Average amid rising El Niño risks. A deficient monsoon could weigh on agricultural output, rural incomes, food inflation, and overall economic growth, while creating sector-specific winners and losers across the equity market.
