🇮🇳 India to Overtake Japan in 2025, Becomes 4th Largest Economy: IMF

India is set to become the fourth-largest economy in the world in 2025, overtaking Japan as per the IMF's April World Economic Outlook. With nominal GDP projected to touch $4.187 trillion, India will edge past Japan's $4.186 trillion.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has forecast that India will cross the $4-trillion mark in 2025, moving up from its fifth-place position in 2024. In 2024, India’s GDP stood at $3.9 trillion, trailing behind Japan’s $4.1 trillion. However, with consistent growth and stable macroeconomic conditions, India is expected to surpass Japan next year.

The IMF revised India’s real GDP growth forecast to 6.3% for 2025, slightly lower than its earlier 6.5% estimate, citing global uncertainties. Nonetheless, the country’s strong domestic demand and structural reforms continue to position it as a global economic powerhouse.
